Here are some common real estate terms used to describe apartments in San Jose.


A/C: air conditioned

Alcove Studio: an L shaped studio -sometimes referred to as a "Junior 1"

Brick Wall: means that one wall in the apartment is a brick wall.

Cozy Apartment: it means that the apartment is really small.

Dark: means you will be having the lights on at all times.

DM: Doorman building

DW: dishwasher

EIK: Eat in Kitchen

Hi-Rise: over 10 floors has elevator
Junior 4: A one bed room apt that has or can be converted to a 2 BR

Loft Studio: a studio apartment where a separate sleeping area has been created

Low Rise: usually a walk up generally 5 to 6 floors

Reno: means that the apartment was recently renovated. Unfortunately this may have a different meaning to you and the landlord.

W/D: washer dryer in the apartment

WIC: Walk in closet
